Teach Uyghur Project

An education outreach campaign to bring Uyghur history and culture into American classrooms, and to raise awareness of the ongoing Uyghur Genocide among young people in the United States.

The ultimate goal of the Teach Uyghur Project is for state legislatures in all fifty states to mandate the explicit inclusion of Uyghur history and the Uyghur genocide into the curriculums of their states.

Until this goal is realized, it is still possible for teachers in the United States to teach about Uyghurs under the umbrella of the current content standards. The first phase of our project is our education outreach document, which is designed to help teachers include Uyghurs in their own curriculum. The document consists of comprehensive background information on Uyghur history, culture, and the ongoing Uyghur Genocide, a list of resources, and a six-day lesson plan for high school students. Please share this document with the educators in your lives. We are eager for feedback from teachers who have implemented our project in their classrooms.
